The birth of a child is one of the truly amazing and powerful experiences of human life. New moms and dads will often refer to the coming of a new life as a miracle. The Bible teaches, however, that there is a second birth, a spiritual birth, that is even more miraculous than physical birth!
The miracle of our spiritual birth takes place when we make the decision to trust Christ for the forgiveness of our sins and receive eternal life. Our old life of selfishness and sin is completely forgiven, and we are given the power by God's Holy Spirit to live lives that are pleasing to him. Although the process may take time, we become completely new people. As we live by faith in obedience to God's word, we become more like Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit. Then, when life on earth is finished, our life in Christ will result in eternal life in heaven.
